The newest addition to the Carmike Cinemas in Apple Valley will have movie-goers thinking big. Carmike's new "BIGD" theater will debut at the Apple Valley location on Thursday—one of the first locations in the nation—with a special fundraiser screening, and will continue hosting special film events each night for a week, according to a press release. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" premieres at midnight Friday morning at movie theaters across the country.
The promotional posters say "it all ends" on July 15. But Apple Valley's movie theaters are preparing for the mania surrounding the final Harry Potter movie—"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2"—to continue through the weekend and beyond. The film will first be shown at midnight Friday morning. That first midnight showing of the movie at the Great Clips IMAX Theater—all 525 seats—has been sold out for a month, Sales Manager Kathy O'Connell said; the theater added a 3 a.m. Friday show to accommodate more moviegoers.
