His two performances tonight and Saturday will be his first major shows in the Twin Cities since he placed third on "The Voice."
Eagan's singing phenom Nicholas David is playing two shows at First Avenue this weekend, his first major Twin Cities performances since winning third place on "The Voice" in December. He'll be bringing more than just experience from the NBC reality singing competition: David will be joined on stage by contestants Melanie Martinez and Todd Kessler (on Friday and Satuday) and by Terry McDermott and Trevin Hunte (just on Saturday). "When we were filming, we agreed regardless of what happens, let's build bridges," he told the Pioneer Press. "We're all trying to do the same thing, so let's help each other." David's Friday night First Avenue performance is already sold out but tickets are still available for the Saturday evening show. "I'm super…

Eastview High School graduate Dustin Hatzenbuhler appeared in front of the celebrity judges on NBC's "The Voice" in an episode aired last week.
The call–from a strange California number—came in while Dustin Hatzenbuhler was mowing the grass. So Hatzenbuhler did what many do; he screened the caller. It wasn't until he checked the message moments later that the Apple Valley resident realized he'd just missed an out-of-the-blue call from a producer on NBC's "The Voice". The producer, Hatzenbuhler said, wanted him to audition for the show. "Nobody was around, and nobody was in my house, and I was just like 'I can't tell anybody about this right now, I was just too full of excitement," Hatzenbuhler said. Hatzenbuhler, who made it to the nationally televised blind auditions, performed Michael Bublés' "Haven’t Met You Yet" in an episode aired last week. Click here to check out Dustin …

Landon Medvec gave it his all on Monday in front of celebrity judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher during the blind audition round on "The Voice".
Rosemount singer Landon Medvec hoped his raspy voice could win over the judges on NBC's "The Voice" Monday night, but his rendition of "You Give Me Something" by James Morrison didn't catch on during the blind audition round. Medvec's performance seemed to surprise celebrity judges Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher—who thought Medvec was a woman, based on his singing alone. "If I would've hit my button, I would've thought I was picking a girl," Shelton told Medvec after the performance, when the judges' got their first look at the contestant. "I've never gotten that before," a bemused Medvec said before telling judges his audition on the Voice was his first performance. Celebrity judge Adam Levine was the only one who didn't seem surprised …

Fame has nothing to do with the kind of pride we feel for our children. What makes you proud of yours?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as the parent of a 1-year-old in the last year: We all have dreams for our children. Huge, ambitious dreams. And, of course, we never know what our children will become. I can’t possibly imagine what it’s like to see your child become famous on television. Which is why, on Monday night, I just asked. I was talking to David Mrozinski, the father of the now quite famous Nicholas David, the musician on NBC’s “The Voice.” Nicholas is the Eagan, MN native who has advanced to be one of just eight musicians from across the country vying for a recording contract on the insanely popular reality TV show. I met David Mrozinski at the Eagan Patch’s Voice Viewing Party at Ansari’s in Eagan. The event was as much an …

Nicholas Mrozinski’s quick rise to fame on "The Voice" has stunned and delighted his fiancée Krista Balaski and close friend and manager Jackson Eddy.
Like us on Facebook | Get our newsletter | Follow us on Twitter | Start a blog Jackson Eddy was working as a barista at an Eagan coffee shop when he first heard Nicholas Mrozinski perform. At first, nobody in the coffee shop paid much attention to the young musician with a little keyboard and long hair, Eddy remembered. But when the faltering Mrozinski broke through his stage fright and found his voice, Eddy snapped to attention. "I stopped what I was doing, and I was like 'whoa'," Eddy said. Fast forward and Eddy, Mrozinski's longtime manager and close friend, is now scrambling to keep up with all the emails, voice messages and fan mail for Mrozinski—a budding celebrity who is a top performer on NBC's nationally televised musical …
