Rosemount Irish Out to Score Another Football Postseason Upset

The unseeded Irish, who defeated favored Stillwater and top-seeded Edina in the past two games, will play fifth-seeded Lakeville North in tonight’s Class 6A semifinals at the Metrodome.

Game time is 7 p.m. Over the past two weeks, Rosemount (7-4) has knocked off favored Stillwater, 7-6, in the Section 3AAAAAA-Section 4AAAAAA crossover playoff game and top-seeded Edina, 14-10, in the Class 6A quarterfinals. Now, the Irish will play Lakeville North (10-1), which avenged its only loss of the season last week by defeating Prior Lake, 23-3, in the state quarterfinals. Rosemount (7-4) trailed 10-0 at halftime, but scored a pair of third-quarter touchdowns. With less than a minute left, Edina was driving in the Irish end of the field but turning the ball over on downs. Click here to see Minnesota Football Hub's game report. According to the Minnesota State High School League website, Rosemount is slated to play Lakeville North at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Metrodome. Apple Valley defeated Eagan, 27-10, and Eastview topped Bloomington Kennedy, 35-19. Rosemount had a tough time with Lakeville North, losing 35-0. With Wednesday’s victory, Apple Valley finished second in the South Suburban Conference standings with a 6-2 record overall and in the conference. Eastview was third, ending with a 5-3 record overall and 5-2 in the conference. Rosemount tied Lakeville South for fourth. Both teams had an overall record of 4-4 and a conference mark of 4-3.
