Public Review Period Coming Soon for UMore Park Development

The city, working with Empire Township and the University of Minnesota, is evaluating ecological resources, potential infrastructure needs and possible pollutants at the 5,000-acre property.

For 10 months, the city, Empire Township and the University of Minnesota have evaluated development-related issues at the 5,000-acre UMore Park property in Rosemount And this summer, Rosemount residents will likely get their first crack at the city's findings as part of an extensive public review period. The study, called an Alternative Urban Areawide Review, looked at ecological resources, potential infrastructure needs and possible pollutants—among other issues—at UMore Park, which is owned by the University of Minnesota. Rosemount Accepting Applications for City Commissions

Positions are open on Planning, Parks and Recreation and Utility commissions.

  The City of Rosemount is seeking residents to serve as members of its advisory commissions.  There are two openings on the Planning Commission, two on the Parks and Recreation Commission and one on the Utility Commission.  The City Council will interview candidates and make appointments.  All Commission terms begin April 1.  Commissioners receive a $35 stipend for each regular meeting they attend. Regular meeting dates of the month are: The Planning Commission is composed of five members.  Among other things, members prepare or amend the city's comprehensive plan and review all development proposals. The commission also reviews the five-year capital improvement program for compliance with the adopted plans and submit its recommendations …

Rosemount City Council Partakes in Rare Face-to-Face with Planning Commission

An Aug. 9 joint meeting between two city entities resulted in a better understanding of new and ongoing projects throughout the city.

The City Council held a joint informational meeting Tuesday with city staff and members of the planning commission. The purpose of the meeting was to have a rare face-to-face between the council and commission, especially since there are a number of new members on the planning commission, some having been sworn in as recently as April. The meeting also served as a way to make sure members of the council and commission are in sync with the way they represent the city to the public on matters of development happening in the community. Mayor Bill Droste felt that the UMore development project, which he characterized as “complex, large, and hard to understand,” warranted a special meeting with the Planning Commission to bring everyone up to …

City Council Joins Forces with Planning Commission for Special Meeting

The two city entities will discuss UMore Park tonight.

The Rosemount City Council and Planning Commission will be gathering tonight for a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. UMore Park will be largely discussed at the meeting. Wind turbines, an environmental study, mining permit and UMore ballfields, among other items, will be covered during the meeting. In addition, the City Council will continue to talk more about UMore Park during its regular work session scheduled Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Agendas and meeting packets are available on the city's website.
