Police: Shots Fired Following Dispute Between Duck Hunters

Dakota County deputies arrested one man following the alleged shooting incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. No one was injured.

At approximately 2:37 p.m. today, Dakota County Sheriffs Deputies were summoned to Spring Lake Park on a report of shots fired at a duck hunter. The caller indicated that a hunter was confronted angrily by another hunting party as he was placing his decoys in the water. Words were exchanged and eventually the argument grew heated, culminating with one party shooting a shotgun at the party in the water placing the decoys. The victim and a witness report pellets striking the side of the victim’s boat. No one was struck by the pellets. Rosemount Victim Identified in Eagan Road Rage Shooting

With their investigation hampered by intoxicated witnesses, police are still searching for a suspect or suspects in the case.

Police have identified the woman shot in the back during an apparent road rage incident in Eagan on Sunday morning. The 26-year-old victim is Kimberly Lawrence, a Rosemount resident, according to Eagan Police Chief Jim McDonald. Lawrence, who sustained a "non-fatal" shoulder wound, was transported to Regions Hospital on Sunday following the shooting. Police say Lawrence was one of eight people riding in a Volkswagen Jetta in Eagan early on Sunday morning. Police say the confrontation started when a dark-colored SUV began tailgating the Jetta, driven by 28-year-old Grant Hengy of St. Paul. When Hengy made an obscene gesture at the driver of the SUV, an occupant of the SUV responded by opening fire on Hengy's vehicle. One round struck …

UPDATED: Former Employee Opens Fire, Kills Five, Self at Minneapolis Business

A shooting Thursday at a Minneapolis neighborhood business has sent ripples throughout the Twin Cities as victims are identified. The suspect, who Minneapolis Police confirmed was released from his job earlier that day, killed himself.

UPDATE (5:51 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28) Minneaplis Police had reported earlier that Engeldinger returned to the workplace in the afternoon after being fired the morning of Sept. 27. Police now say the earlier reports were incorrect and Engeldinger was brought into the front office at the end of the work day to be terminated and then took out the weapon and began shooting in the office. ******* UPDATE (4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28) - Minneapolis Police and staff at Hennepin County Medical Center have confirmed a sixth victim in the shooting at Accent Signage Systems has died.  The victim's name has not been released.  More information on the five people kiled by Andrew Engeldinger Thursday afternoon is expected soon.  Engeldinger, who shot and …

Hundreds Honor Oak Creek, WI Victims at Sikh Society of MN Candlelight Vigil

People of varied backgrounds gathered to mourn shooting victims, show solidarity.

On Friday, Minnesota joined many other states in having a vigil in memory of the six worshippers shot dead at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, WI last Sunday. More than 500 people of all faiths gathered at the Sikh Society of Minnesota temple in Bloomington on Friday night for the service. According to KSTP, attendees started the evening service with prayer, hymns and a few speeches, with the common message being one of standing together for religious tolerance and freedom in America. Manjeet Singh, a spokesman for the Sikh Society, said Minnesota's small Sikh community sees what happened in Wisconsin as an "isolated incident and probably a hate crime," according to KARE 11 article. UPDATE: Deaths of Man, Woman in Apple Valley Shooting Apparently Murder-Suicide

An Eagan man allegedly shot the Apple Valley woman with whom he had children, then shot himself outside South Cedar Knolls Apartments in Apple Valley, witnesses reported to police.

UPDATE 3:40 p.m. Saturday: The deaths of a 41-year-old man and woman who were shot in Apple Valley on Saturday morning apparently are the result of a murder-suicide, according to reports from WCCO and the Pioneer Press. According to the Pioneer Press, witnesses reported seeing the man chasing and shooting at the woman in the South Cedar Knolls Apartments parking lot, and he apparently shot her, then shot himself. The man and woman, whose identies had not been released at the time of this update, apparently had two children together, according to WCCO, though police said they didn't know whether they were married, divorced or otherwise.  The woman allegedly lived in the apartments. Apple Valley Man Charged With Shooting 1 Man, Assaulting Another

Deonte Gracias Anderson is charged with first- and second-degree assault in connection with the May 15 incident in Brooklyn Center.

An Apple Valley man has been charged with shooting a Brooklyn Center man in the back last week and hitting another in the head with a gun before leading police on a high-speed chase. Deonte Gracias Anderson, 27, is charged with three felonies in the May 15 incident: first-degree assault causing great bodily harm, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $30,000 fine; second-degree assault with a firearm, which has a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine; and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Anderson remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $150,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled June 13 in …

Name of Man Fatally Shot By Apple Valley Police Officer Released

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner on Monday reported the man fatally shot Sunday during an exchange of gunfire with an Apple Valley police officer died of blood loss from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner on Monday identified the man fatally shot Sunday during an exchange of gunfire with an Apple Valley Police Department officer, according to a press release from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Carl Anthony Tatum, 48, of 13947 Herald Ct. in Apple Valley, died of blood loss resulting from multiple gunshot wounds, the release says. BCA agents interviewed Apple Valley Police Officers Tommie Booth and Tara Becker, who both were placed on a standard paid administrative leave, the release says. Man Fatally Shot by Police Allegedly Shot First, Had Assaulted Girlfriend

The man’s name is expected to be release Monday after an autopsy, according to the Apple Valley Police Department.

Police have released more details about the incident Sunday in Apple Valley in which a man who was going to be arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend reportedly shot a handgun at a police officer, was then shot by the officer and later died. An autopsy was underway at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday morning, and the man’s identity was being withheld “pending formal identification” by the office, according to an Apple Valley Police Department press release. His identity is expected to be released later on Monday, the release says. The last officer-involved shooting in the Apple Valley Police Department was in 2000, according to the release.
