A girls track invitational and simultaneous boys meet were among the few sporting events not cancelled or postponed because of poor weather.
Local track and field teams battled each other—and the elements—during a multi-team track meet held outdoors on Tuesday at Rosemount High School. The Rosemount girls track team hosted competitors from Eagan, Eastview High School, Henry Sibley High School, Northfield, Park High School and Prior Lake in an invitational that commenced at 3:45 p.m. The boys track team competed against Farmington in a 4 p.m. meet. The event was one of the few South Suburban Conference competitions that was not cancelled or delayed yesterday in light of the poor weather. Apple Valley defeated Eagan, 27-10, and Eastview topped Bloomington Kennedy, 35-19. Rosemount had a tough time with Lakeville North, losing 35-0. With Wednesday’s victory, Apple Valley finished second in the South Suburban Conference standings with a 6-2 record overall and in the conference. Eastview was third, ending with a 5-3 record overall and 5-2 in the conference. Rosemount tied Lakeville South for fourth. Both teams had an overall record of 4-4 and a conference mark of 4-3. Apple Valley, Eastview and Rosemount all have road games in their final regular-season matchups.
All three high school football teams in Apple Valley-Rosemount can finish the regular season with winning records with victories tonight. Eastview and Rosemount would have five wins if they come out on top tonight. Apple Valley reached the five-victory plateau last week. Rosemount has a tough challenge to get above .500 as it visits Lakeville North, which is tied with Prior Lake at the top of the South Suburban Conference standings. In other games tonight, Apple Valley visits Eagan and Eastview travels to Bloomington Kennedy.
