The Rosemount City Council will have its say on a proposed nine-lot commercial development just east of the Highway 3-County Road 42 intersection this week. The council is scheduled to act on a request to develop the site at its regular Tuesday meeting. Project developer KJ Walk Inc. want to build a 70-room Country Inn and Suites and a Super America gas station/convenience store as part of the development. It is requesting a number of zoning approvals from the city, including: • An eight-lot preliminary plat. • A two-lot final plat…

Weekly Update: Rosemount Residents Turn Out at Polls in Droves

Patch will feature news from the weekly update. Rosemount residents went to the polls in droves last week. City election officials say 84 percent of Rosemount’s registered voters—12,847 in all—turned in ballots for the Nov. 6 general election. Looking inside those numbers, nearly 11 percent of the voters filled out their ballots in advance. And, 16 percent registered to vote on Nov. 6. Among the offices city residents voted for was City Council. Winning council seats were Vanessa Olson Demuth and Jeff Weisensel. The City Council will certify the vote at its Nov. 14 meeting. Other…

Weekly Update: Planning Commission Tables Development Discussion

Editor’s Note: The City of Rosemount’s weekly update appears on the city’s website. Patch will feature news from the weekly update. Discussion about a proposed nine-lot commercial development near the intersection of County Road 42 and Highway 3 has been tabled by the Rosemount Planning Commission. The 26.5-acre development—which would include a Super America gas station/convenience store and a Country Inn and Suites hotel—would sit at the northeast corner of the intersection. The lots would range in size from just under an acre to 14.9 acres. According to city documents—including the city’s weekly update—one person discussed potential traffic concerns during a public hearing about the project at the Sept. 25 Planning Commission meeting. …

Patch will feature news from the weekly update periodically. Rosemount’s new police chief, Eric Werner, is on the job. According to the city’s weekly update, Werner was administered the oath of office on Friday so he could start work. He is scheduled to take a ceremonial oath at Tuesday’s Rosemount City Council meeting. Werner was one of three finalists for chief and was hired for the position in August.
