Raymond Starin, Neighbor

I am a freelance photojournalist from Oronoco, MN with 4 years experience working for various newspapers. I started out at the Minnesota State University Reporter in 2007, a semiweekly college newspaper and the second largest college newspaper in Minnesota. It is there I acquired much of my experience covering various stories as a staff photographer and later becoming the photo editor in 2008. I graduated from MSU-Mankato in 2009 with my B.S. degree in Biology concentrating in Ecology.

While working for the MSU Reporter I earned many awards.

•  2010 Minnesota Newspaper Association, awarded first place for sports action/feature photography, first and second place for feature photography.

•   2009 Minnesota Newspaper Association, awarded first place for photo story, first place for feature photography, first place for best photographers portfolio and second place for portrait and personality photography.

•   2008 Society of Professional Journalists, Region 6 Mark of Excellence Award for second place in general news photography and second place in sports photography.

•   2008 Minnesota Newspaper Association, awarded first place for portrait and personality photography and second place for sports photography.

While in college I covered events for the Mankato Free Press and the Mining Gazette out of Houghton, MI while in San Antonio TX covering the MSU-Mankato girl&#39;s basketball team as they won nationals. I have also done work for the, Wisconsin Badger Herald,  Hastings Star Gazette and more recently I have done freelance work with the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

I love photography and the people I get to meet along the way. I really enjoy telling people&#39;s stories and using my photography to create a emotional respose from viewers.
