Minnesota Zoo Hosts One-year 'Birthday Party' for Amur Tiger Pair

Nadya and Sundari, two cubs born las summer, were given a "cake" to celebrate the occasion.

Monday, the Minnesota Zoo marked a very special milestone: The one year "birthday" of two Amur tiger cubs, Nadya and Sundari.

The pair have been a favorite with the public since their debut last summer. In June, the zoo announced that a litter of two had been born. Only one of the cubs born at the zoo survived the first few days. To keep the remaining baby company, the zoo brought in another cub, a transplant from the St. Louis Zoo.

Since then, the girls have been a popular attraction at the zoo. Monday, they were treated to an ice-cake made by the zookeepers, a concoction of water and different fruit juices for color and flavor. A few of the pieces were laced with a tiger-favorite, meat.
