Leadership is what Chris Goeke's parents, Pam Shultz and Randy Goeke, hoped to foster in local high school students when they created the Christopher Goeke Leadership Foundation in memory of their son, an Apple Valley High School graduate.

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Goeke, age 23, was killed in action in Afghanistan in July 2010 while leading a platoon of the 4th Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division.
