Craigslist Curiosities: For Sale, the Brew That Turned Billy Carter Into a Teetotaler

Don't suppose it has improved with age.

You remember Billy Carter, right? The black sheep of President Carter's family? You know the one: The hard-drinking gas station owner known spout colorful quotes like "I got a red neck, white socks, and Blue Ribbon beer." So notorious was this professional yokel that he became the spokesman for a beer line, Billy Beer.

When it debuted in 1977, it sold wildly well based on his celebrity endorsement—at first. Unfortunately, the brew was "so noxious that not even Billy Carter would drink it," according to an article in Mental Floss about the beer and its enduring nostalgic appeal.

For those who would dare to try a 35-year-old beer of dubious quality, an Apple Valley Craigslister has a six pack of Billy Beer for $25. 

What a hoot ! They are still full and have the plastic holder intact. They are in excellent condition.
