Storms Carrying Heavy Rain, Small Hail and Wind Headed for Twin Cities
A strong band of thunderstorms is making its way eastward toward the Twin Cities Thursday morning. Some cities out in Wright County have reported small hail, high winds and heavy rainfall.
The National Weather has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, but those residing in the western part of the Twin Cities can testify to an almost certainty for rain, as wind and heavy rainfall slammed into the metro around 10 a.m. Thursday.
Inver Grove Heights is under the watch, as is much of the Twin Cities area. It expires this afternoon, around 4 p.m.
According to radar, a strong band of storms built up over Central Minnesota early this morning and was making its way from west to east.
The good news? Behind it is a mass of cool, dry air which should bring fall back to the region just in time for the weekend. Temps Friday and Saturday should hit the mid-60s, with lows in the mid-40s. The high for Sunday and Monday is right around 70, with continued dry air.
