The Calm After the Storm
Hail, strong winds and rain greeted Apple Valley residents Saturday evening.
Today’s cool and misty weather is a far cry from Saturday evening’s stormy conditions, when Apple Valley residents were greeted with rain, hail and high winds.
The National Weather Service received reports of hail as big as one inch in diameter falling in Apple Valley during the storm, which struck primarily between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Large hail, heavy rain and strong winds also were reported in Burnsville, Savage, Bloomington and Eagan.

The weather service issued a for northwestern Dakota County shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday. A flood advisory went into effect after that warning expired at 8:45.
Saturday’s storms caused nearly 8,000 homes in the Twin Cities to lose electricity for parts of Saturday and Sunday. As of 2:40 p.m. today, Xcel Energy says about 200 homes still remained without electric.

LOOKING AHEAD
For the remainder of today, the weather service is forecasting scattered showers and a high temperature of 58. Sunny skies and highs in the 70s are predicted for Monday and Tuesday.
