Well-Loved Priest Gets Big Welcome Back

Father Paul Jarvis had emergency heart surgery three months ago.

Three months after a close brush with death, Father Paul Jarvis is back in the saddle at St. Joseph Church in Rosemount, and feeling a bit overwhelmed with the well-wishes and prayers he's received in recent days.

Celebrating mass two weekends ago, Jarvis told the Rosemount Town Pages that he choked up at the altar thinking about his parishioners' words of support until someone from the audience shouted "We love you, Father Paul."

"That kind of shook me out of the pause, and I said, 'I love you to,'" said Jarvis. "It's kind of nice, but it's also a little bit embarrassing when people are clapping and stuff."

The well-loved priest isn't well enough to walk in this year's Leprechaun Days parade, but he plans to participate via scooter or Segway, if he can borrow one.
