'Give to the Max' Day Helps Rosemount, Minnesota Nonprofits

GiveMN.org will provide added incentives for nonprofit organizations and projects to bring in donations during the 24 hours of Wednesday this week, known as Give to the Max Day.

For the past two years, giveMN.org has empowered thousands of Minnesota residents to easily donate online to their favorite nonprofit groups.

But each year, the stakes are raised on a single day for organizations to solicit donations.

During a 24-hour period known as Give to the Max Day, which this year started at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, there are added bonuses for organizations that bring in donations (via credit card or debit card on the giveMN.org site only).

This year, giveMN.org has more than $6 million in match funds for participating groups—including ones in Rosemount—that meet certain goals for donations and money raised on Wednesday. Last year, $10,041,021 was donated by 42,596 donors and $8 million was matched on Give to the Max Day.

One local way to get involved is to make a donation that would help 's academic and arts program. The high school has established a benefit fund for its students and staff under the umbrella of the District 196 Foundation with the goal of creating a long-term endowment of funds for maintaining academics and the arts at Rosemount High School, according to the high school.

Through GiveMN.org, people can make a contribution to RHS today through the RHS Benefit Fund.

"You can give a one-time donation or set up weekly, monthly, or yearly gifts of any amount over $10. Donations can be made to the Benefit Fund in general, or you can give a targeted donation to academics, arts, student scholarship, or teacher scholarship by clicking “Add a Designation” and entering the desired designation in the box.

"You can also make a donation in honor of someone, such as a favorite teacher or staff member (past or present), and dedicate your gift in their name. Click “Add a Dedication” and indicate the person you wish to honor. If we are able, we will be sure to share your appreciation and thanks with that staff member," the high school said.

Prizes of $15,000, $10,000 and $7,500 will be given to the organizations that bring in the most money on Wednesday, respectively.

GiveMN will also hand out $1,000 every hour to a random group.
