DCR Chamber Recognizes Successful Local Businesses

Rosemount business 'Insider Training' was among seven businesses recognized for their achievements this past year.

Local businesses were honored Thursday during the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards ceremony located at the Lost Spur Golf and Event Center in Eagan.

Each year, the chamber recognizes businesses that have gone above and beyond, and are able to continue to grow their business even through tough economic times.

As Roz Peterson, chamber board chair, said during the ceremony, “Job growth starts with small businesses. It’s [amazing] when small businesses are able to succeed and hire new employees during these challenging economic times.”

Insider Training President/CEO Chris Dixon accepted the award for his company. Dixon started his metabolic profiling company out of his home in Rosemount in 2007 and now has three employees. His company multi-faceted and concentrates on providing clients with  “do-it-yourself fitness that is possible even with a smaller budget.” According to Dixon, he wanted to transition from providing personal training to providing metabolic profiling to “help people better understand and maintain their metabolism.”

We help our clients to meet their goals and needs, and determine such things as their body composition, heart rate ranges and caloric intake, Dixon added.

Dixon’s advice to others who may be interested in starting their own business: “Take a chance and go for it … Lots of people don’t jump out there, but take a shot. If you’re willing to work hard, it will work out.”
