Rosemount Marching Band to Receive Formal Invite to California Rose Parade

The Rosemount Marching Band is one of just 12 high school bands chosen to perform in the 125th annual Rose Parade.

Come Jan. 1, 2014 Rosemount High's marching band will provide the entertainment at one very large New Year's celebration. The band has been tapped to play the Rose Parade, which attracts about 700,000 revelers each year.

The band will receive a formal invitation from Tournament of Roses President R. Scott Jenkins this week, who is traveling to Minnesota expressly for this purpose. Only 12 high school bands were invited to play the 2014 parade.

Friday morning the band will host a pep rally to welcome Jenkins to town. The public is invited to attend the event, which begins at 10 a.m. at the school's Performing Arts Center. Jenkins will be greeted by local VIPs like U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Representative Anna Wills, Minnesota Senator Greg Clausen, Rosemount Mayor Bill Droste, and District 196 Superintendent Jane Berenz.

Jenkins officially hand off the invitation and a Tournament of Roses flag at another event on the following Saturday, during the Drum Corps International Show at TCF Bank Stadium.
