Update: Tornado Watch Canceled for Apple Valley

The National Weather Service has dropped the tornado watch that previously was scheduled for Apple Valley until 8 p.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado watch that it previously had issued for Apple Valley.

Apple Valley and the rest of Dakota County previously were under the tornado watch that was supposed to last until 8 p.m. Sunday, until it was canceled, according to the National Weather Service. Thirty-three Minnesota counties were under the tornado watch.

Tornadoes could develop quickly from thunderstorms, according to the NWS; if a tornado is sighted, people should quickly move to a sturdy structure, such as a basement or small interior room of a building.
