No Arrests Yet in Double Bomb Threat in Rosemount, Apple Valley

Few details have emerged after separate bomb threats shut down Walgreens stores in Apple Valley and Rosemount yesterday.

Two Walgreen's stores in the south metro were evacuated after bomb threats were called in around noon on Wednesday, Sept. 4. 

Rosemount and Apple Valley employees of the stores worked with local law enforcement to clear customers out of both locations after calls were placed warning of an explosive device. 

So far, no one has been arrested in the incident, and no explosives were found at either location. 

According to the Apple Valley Police Department, authorities were called to the Walgreen's at 14020 Pilot Knob Road around 11:30 a.m. on report of a bomb threat. The store was evacuated and the immediate area was secured. The Apple Valley Fire Department and a K9 Unit from the Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport Police Department were also called to the scene.

Rosemount Police told the media Wednesday afternoon that it received a similar call just minutes after the report in Apple Valley. 

According to information provided by RPD, 

at 11:55 a.m., the Rosemount Police Department responded to Walgreen’s Drug Store located at 15034 Shannon Parkway to the report of a bomb threat. As a precautuionary measure, Walgreen’s Drug Store was evacuated and the immediate area secured. The Rosemount Police Department was assisted by the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Health East Ambulance, Rosemount Fire Department and a K9 Unit from the Airport Police Department during the incident. No explosive devices were found.

Bomb squads and K9 officers were also on hand at the Apple Valley location.

Both departments said the incidents were under investigation.
