Police Continue to Investigate Rosemount Murder-Suicide

Police: "Rosemount Police is not actively seeking suspects and there is no risk to the community."

Update, 2 p.m. Oct. 11: The deaths have been ruled a murder-suicide, according to statement from the Rosemount chief of police.

Steven Lee Vasey Jr., 32, died of multiple gunshot wounds, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office ruled. His wife, Melissa Vasey, 31, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"There were no indications of a struggle between the couple," Chief Eric T. Werner said in a statement. "Police records indicate no prior calls to the residence."

The death investigation is continuing with the help of the Minnesota Bureau of Investigation.

Original post, 10 a.m. Oct. 9: The death of two individuals in a Rosemount apartment Tuesday, Oct. 8 is being investigated by the Rosemount Police Department.

At 5:48 p.m. Oct. 8, the Rosemount Police Department received a report to check the welfare of a couple residing in Rosemount. Police checked an apartment on the 2900 block of 146th Street West and found two deceased individuals, according to a news release from the Rosemount Police Department.

“Rosemount Police is not actively seeking suspects and there is no risk to the community,” according to the news release.

The incident remains under investigation by the Rosemount Police Department with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
