The city will be making changes to a few more sirens as part of a countywide project as well as a federal regulation.

Rosemount residents may hear a siren wailing on a perfectly sunny, still afternoon this first week of January, but there’s no reason to worry; the city is just making some updates to its emergency sirens.

"The in cooperation with Dakota County and the Dakota Communications Center is undertaking federally required upgrades to the city's outdoor warning siren equipment," according to a press release from the city. "The project is being jointly funded through a Federal Department of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative grant secured by Dakota County and by the City of Rosemount."
