District 196 Now Accepting Applications to Fill Board Vacancy

The school board on Monday night discussed the process for filling an empty board chair left by Kevin Sampers, who resigned effective last month.

Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district is now accepting applications to fill a seat left vacant by Kevin Sampers, who resigned effective last month to focus on the business he co-founded.

The school board on Monday night discussed the process for filling that seat.

Anyone interested in applying can apply today through Sept. 27. Applicants can go to the district's website to get materials, or they can call the superintendent's office to request a hard copy. The office number is 651-423-7749.

When the filing period closes Sept. 27, the board members will get the applications and review them. Finalists will be selected at the Oct. 10 board meeting, and then a panel interview will take place at the Oct. 27 school board meeting. A new board member will be chosen during that meeting, after the interview. The newcomer will be sworn in Nov. 14.
