  1. Skies will be mostly sunny today, but the high will be only around 70, with northwest winds between 7 and 9 mph, the National Weather Service says. Lows will dip to around 45 tonight, with partly cloudy skies and winds from 9 to 13 mph, still from the northwest.  
  2. It’s early for Halloween (even though you’d never know by taking a cruise through Target), but you can get in the mood at “,” a presentation by Annie Wilder, author of “House of Spirits and Whispers.” Today’s presentation at the Robert Trail Library in Rosemount, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., will include recordings of ghost whispers from Wilder’s Victorian home. 
  3. Students in District 196 schools are marking Farm to School Month by eating locally grown, fresh foods throughout September. Check out what’s on the menu on the District 196 website. 
  4. Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the District 196 School Board with the August resignation of board member Kevin Sampers. The two-week application period begins today and runs through Sept. 27. For more information, check out the district’s news release
  5. Today is national Defy Superstition Day. Walk under a ladder, let a black cat cross your path and forget throwing that spilled salt over your shoulder. You’ll survive.
