Photos: Eastview Football Goes Down 27-7 Against Prior Lake's Ground and Pound

Prior Lake's tough running game wore down Eastview's defense in Friday's section 3AAAAA title game, ending the Lightning's season.

The Lightning football team hoped to pull of another upset as it traveled to Prior Lake on Friday evening, with a berth to the state football tournament on the line.

In the end, Prior Lake's running game wore down Eastview's defense, and the Lakers came out on top, 27-7.

The game remained scoreless through much of the first half. Prior Lake struck first with a touchdown late in the second quarter.

But Eastview countered with a Ryan Reger pass over the middle to Amari Kennedy that turned into a long touchdown run, with Kennedy breaking tackles on his way to the end zone—the Lightning's only score of the game.

At the start of the second half, Eastview had the choice of going for it on fourth down or kicking a mid-length field. They went for it and came up short. After that possession, Prior Lake began to take over the game.

The Lakers offense, playing in windy conditions, stuck to its running game. Eastview's offense struggled to come up with a rewarding drive.

The Lightning end the season 3-5 in regular-season South Suburban Conference play, and 6-6 overall, including playoff games.
