Photos: Apple Valley Boys Basketball Advances To Section Finals

The Eagles defeated Rosemount on Saturday and will play for a trip to state on Friday

The Apple Valley boys basketball team advanced to the Section 3AAAA championship game on Saturday by defeating Rosemount 67-59 in the semifinals at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

The Eagles will face Lakeville South for the section championship on Friday at 7 p.m. in Northfield.

Apple Valley led 38-28 at halftime and held on for the victory. The Eagles were led by Tyus Jones’ 21 points, while Tom Schalk had 18 points and Dustin Fronk and Gavin Bronson each had nine.

For Rosemount (7-21), Matt Nelson had 13 points and Evan Mitchell and Brandon Forcier each had nine points.

The Eagles (19-9) have won their last seven games and 12 of their last 13 games.
