Apple Valley Boys, Girls Track Take 1st in 4x100 Relay at State

's boys and girls 4 x 100 meter relay teams swept the top spots in the event at the Class AA state track meet this weekend, while several other and Apple Valley track athletes placed in their respective events.

The Apple Valley girls team as a whole finished third out of 67 schools, with 35 points, while Eastview girls tied for 12th with 23 points. The Eastview boys team ranked fifth of 62 schools, with 41 points, while the Apple Valley boys tied for 13 with 25 points.

Results below from individual and relay places in event finals are from the Minnesota State High School League.

GIRLS

100-meter dash

• Apple Valley's Taylor Browning placed third with a time of 12.45 seconds.
• Eastview's Alex Beckman finished fifth with a time of 12.56.

200-meter dash

• Apple Valley's Taylor Browning placed second with a time of 25.22.

800-meter run

• Eastview's Erica Bestul finished ninth with a time of 2:21.21.

1600-meter run

• Eastview's Erica Bestul finished ninth with a time of 5:08.61.

4 x 100 meter relay

• Apple Valley's team of Megan Maki, Jaryn Pipkins, Jordan Sammons and Taylor Browning placed first with a time of 48.10.
• Eastview's team of Paris Sanders, Leah Nesheim, Alex Beckman and Claire Elliott finished third with a time of 48.43.

4 x 200 meter relay

• Apple Valley's team of Jordan Sammons, Megan Maki, Shaday Williams and Jaryn Pipkins placed eighth with a time of 1:44.52.

Triple jump

• Eastview's Alex Beckman finished third with a 37-06, w:1.6. (Beckman won the state event last year.)
• Eastview's Melita Ware finished 14th with a 34-06, w:0.1.

Pole vault

• Apple Valley's Hannah Linder placed seventh with a height of 11-00.
• Apple Valley's Kelsey Harms placed 11th at a height of 11-00.
• Apple Valley's Emily Bonewell finished 17th at a height of 10-06.

Shot put

• Apple Valley's Marissa Akinseye placed 11th with a throw of 35 feet 9.75 inches.

BOYS

100-meter dash

• Apple Valley's Herschel Brazell placed eighth with a time of 11.46 seconds.

200-meter dash

• Apple Valley's Jordan Crockett placed fifth with a time of 22.60.

400-meter dash

• Apple Valley's Mitch Hechsel placed sixth with a time of 49.84.

1600-meter run

• Eastview's Kenneth Hoffman placed 15th with a time of 4:38.92.

3200-meter run

• Eastview's Erik Rosvold placed 16th with a time of 10:36.39.

4 x 100 meter relay

• Apple Valley's team of Quinn Hooks, Jordan Crockett, Steven Wilson and Jalen Stewart placed first with a time of 42.56. (In the prelims, Herschel Brazell ran instead of Jalen Stewart, according to MSHSL records.)

4 x 200 meter relay

• Apple Valley's team of Jordan Crockett, Steven Wilson, Quinn Hooks and Mitch Hechsel placed eighth with a time of 1:30.02.

High jump

• Eastview's Frank Veldman placed second with a height of 6-07.
• Eastview's Ryan Lockard placed fourth with a 6-06.
• Apple Valley's Quinn Hooks placed 10th with a 6-04.
