Apple Valley HS Teams, Athletes Making State Tournament Appearances

The Apple Valley High School teams and athletes will be busy this week at a number of state high school tournaments.

will be well represented at a number of Minnesota State High School League state tournaments this week. 

Boys Tennis

Sam Hoyt and Tanner Raymen will represent the Eagles in the boys doubles tennis tournament. The pair is set to begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center. The tournament runs through Friday.

Girls Lacrosse

Apple Valley (13-4) is the No.-4 seed and will face No. 1-seed Eden Prairie (16-0) in a State tournament semi-final match on Wednesday. That match will take place at Chanhassen High School at 6 p.m.

The winner will face either No.2-seeded The Blake School (14-2) or No. 3-seed Stillwater (14-2) in an afternoon game on Thursday.

Boys Track and Field

The Eagles will have a strong relay presence at Hamline University on Friday and Saturday for the state meet. 

Among the participants are: 4x800 meter relay team; Kevin Davis, 110-meter hurdles; Quinn Hooks, 100-meter dash; 4x200-meter relay team; 4x100 meter relay team; Mitch Hechsel, 400-meter dash; 4x400 meter relay team; Dom McDew-Stauffer, both in the shot put and discus throw; and Jordan Charles, triple jump.

Girls Track and Field

leads a strong pole vault contingent heading to the state tournament (also at Hamline University this Friday and Saturday) along with other participants.

Those qualifying for the girls state tournament include: 4x200 meter relay team; 4x100 meter relay team; Emily Bonewell, pole vault; Kelsey Harms, pole vault; Hannah Linder, pole vault; and Marissa Akinseye, in the shot put.
