UPDATED: Eagles Headed to State Championship on Saturday

The Apple Valley boys basketball team edged out Eden Prairie 62-55 on Thursday night.

The Apple Valley High School boys basketball team's 29th victory in a row was a sweet one; after defeating Eden Prairie 62-55, the team will advance to the state championship.

Apple Valley standout Tyus Jones led the team with 23 points, while center Brock Bertram racked up 13 rebounds. Forward Dennis Austin nabbed 15 points against Eden Prairie during the game, which started at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Target Center.

Unlike Wednesday's game against Brainerd in the state tournament quarterfinals, the Eagles were quick to ignite against Eden Prairie, outscoring them 30-22 in the first half. But the team slowed down later in the game, scoring 32 points to Eden Prairie's 33.
