5 Things Rosemount Residents Should Know: An RHS Memorial Dedication and Homecoming Game

Here's what is going on in Rosemount today and other tidbits for Oct. 7.

  1. The National Weather Service says there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. today. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny, with a high near 81, and it will remain breezy, with south-southeast winds from 13 to 16 mph, increasing to 26 to 29 mph.  The chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 30 percent tonight, mainly after 1 a.m., with a low around 63 and more breezy conditions.  
  2. It’s homecoming weekend at Rosemount High School: Apple Valley visits Rosemount for a varsity football game at 7 tonight. A will take place before the game to honor RHS alumni who have died in military service since the school opened in 1918. 
  3. Learn about “” from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yarn Garage in Rosemount. Participants will learn to knit on thick needles with thick yarn to create funky accessories. The fee is $29, and advance registration is required; call (651) 423-2590 for more information. 
  4. A will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation Teen Center, 14255 Johnny Cake Ridge Road. Admission is $5 in advance, or $8 at the door. 
  5. Today was a significant day in 1899: the Moulin Rouge opened in Paris, and Thomas Edison showed his first motion picture. And since it’s also National Frappe Day, now you have an excuse to go have a frappe.
