Apple Valley Rotary Gives $10K to Clinic in India

The group presented a check to one of the clinic's doctors on Wednesday.

The Apple Valley Rotary Club has donated $10,000 to the International Village Clinic, a nonprofit organization in India that provides health and medical services to 36 of the country's poor villages.

Club members presented a check to clinic doctor Abul Shara on Wednesday, according to a press release.

The clinic, which is funded solely by donations, aims to include disease prevention, medical treatment, vaccinations and health education in the services it provides to 52,000 patients in India, the release says.

"In the United States we take basic health care for granted," said Apple Valley Rotary Club President Alan Player in the release. "That is not the case in much of the world."

The Apple Valley Rotary Club is one of 33,000 rotary club service organizations in 200 countries; the Apple Valley rotarians meet at 7 a.m. on Wednesdays at .
