Rosemount Patch's Person of the Year: Diane Moeller

Moeller volunteers for the Rosemount Family Resource Center, St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the RHS wrestling team.

Community volunteer Nikki Jackson once told fellow volunteer Diane Moeller that the wrestling team needed baskets for a fundraiser raffle.

Half an hour later, Moeller brought Jackson 30 baskets after visiting garage sales all over town.

“If you ask her, it’s going to get done,” said Jackson.

Perhaps that’s why Jackson nominated Moeller to be Rosemount Patch’s Person of the Year, a title she earned after garnering the most votes in a recent Patch .

In addition to her work with the RHS wresting team, Moeller volunteers for the Rosemount Family Resource Center and for St. John Nuemann Catholic Church.

“She just exemplifies the true meaning of being a volunteer,” said Jackson.

Moeller spends every Monday at the Rosemount Family Resource Center, an organization that provides food, resources and referrals to people who are struggling financially. She answers phones, schedules appointments, meets with families to assist them and determine their needs, sorts and distributes food and organizes food drives.

With the help of her husband, who owns Inside Edge Commercial Interior Services, Moeller also installed donated carpeting in the .

Moeller has done volunteer work for St. John Nuemann as well, requesting donations for their capital campaign to update the church facilities.

As the parent of an RHS wrestler, Moeller takes her duties seriously. She transports wrestlers, shops for concessions, works the concession stand and assists with fundraisers. She has even been known to get up at 4 a.m. to make a fresh egg bake for the morning’s wrestling breakfast.

“I really am just a worker bee,” said Moeller. “I’m just a little part of it.”

In the coming year, Moeller hopes to involve her three teenage children more in her volunteer work, teaching a new generation of worker bees how to strengthen and support the Rosemount community.

“It’s nice to be able to help people,” said Moeller. “If you want your community to be a great place to live, you’ve got to do to you part too.”
